Aftercare Instructions
To help your new lawn establish successfully, we recommend keeping foot traffic to a minimum for the first two weeks after installation.
Watering
Watering is the most important factor in the success of your new lawn. For best results, use an oscillating sprinkler to provide even coverage across the entire area. A tap timer is highly recommended to ensure consistent watering and to prevent overwatering.
Keep the lawn consistently moist until it has fully rooted, paying particular attention to areas beside concrete, paving and other hard surfaces, which can dry out faster.
During the first 14 days in warmer months, water morning and evening for approximately 20–30 minutes each time. In very hot or drying conditions, watering may need to increase to three or four times per day. Once established, watering can usually be reduced to every 3–7 days during summer, depending on weather conditions. During cooler months, little to no watering is generally required.
If the lawn begins to dry out or shrink, it is not receiving enough water. Water immediately, as severely dried areas may not recover and could require replacement.
Mowing
Correct mowing helps your lawn establish and encourages healthy, dense growth. Always use sharp mower blades and a catcher for best results.
Fine Lawn Blend (Dwarf Rye / Fine Fescue)
Mowing should begin once the lawn is firmly rooted and has reached 40–50mm in height. Depending on the time of year, this can occur as early as one week after laying. For the first few mows, trim lightly and avoid removing more than one third of the grass height at any one time. Once established, gradually lower the mowing height to 25–30mm and mow regularly to encourage a dense, healthy lawn.
Tall Fescue
Mow Tall Fescue lawns around two weeks after laying, or earlier during periods of rapid growth. Tall Fescue should generally be maintained at a higher mowing height than other lawn types, ideally around 60mm or at the highest mower setting. Allowing longer periods between mowing during summer and winter will help maintain the lawn’s health and appearance, while sharp mower blades will ensure a clean cut and tidy finish.
Ultimate Tall Fescue
Mow Ultimate Tall Fescue lawns around two weeks after laying, or sooner during periods of rapid growth. This variety offers excellent mowing versatility and can be maintained at heights ranging from 13mm to 75mm to suit your preference. However, allowing the grass to remain longer and reducing mowing frequency during summer and winter can help maintain dense, healthy coverage.
Fertilising
A high-quality slow-release fertiliser should be applied approximately 4–6 weeks after laying, once grass growth begins to slow and the lawn starts to lose colour. After establishment, regular fertilising will help maintain a healthy, vibrant lawn.

Weed Control
Our lawns are supplied treated and weed free. However, weeds can still appear over time from dormant seeds in the soil, wind, birds, or contaminated lawnmowers.
Established lawns can be treated with a selective weed killer during periods of active growth. However, weed spraying during drought conditions may be less effective and can place unnecessary stress on the lawn.
